Dansk Film Festival

Mads Mikkelsen

Film art from Denmark enjoys great popularity among cineastes. Diverse, multifaceted and yet unmistakably Danish, the film projects score points with a blunt look at what it means to be human.

Danish film left behind its place as an insider tip among cineastes at the latest with "Dogma 95," a manifesto against the increasing alienation of reality in cinema, in 1995. Greats such as Lars von Trier, Thomas Vinterberg, Susanne Bier, Kristian Levring and Søren Kragh-Jacobsen committed themselves to Dogma 95. Last year, the Danish Film Festival at the Babylon cinema showed the films "Another Round" with Mads Mikkelsen, "Pelle the Conqueror" by Bille August, "The Feast" by Thomas Vinterberg, "Dogville" by Lars von Trier, and many others.
