Lee Friedlander: Retrospective
11 September until 03 December 2021
Road trips, record covers, self-portraits: CO Berlin is dedicating a comprehensive retrospective to one of the most influential photographers of the second half of the 20th century.
The exhibition «Lee Friedlander: Retrospective» at C/O Berlin presents the six-decade oeuvre of US photographer Lee Friedlander (*1934, Aberdeen, USA): from his beginnings as a young photographer shooting jazz legends for record covers, to his first non-commercial projects created during extended road trips in the US and Europe, to his photographic exploration of his own self and his family. 35 years after his first exhibition at the US Information Center in Berlin's Amerika Haus, around 350 photographs, more than 50 books and accompanying material at C/O Berlin provide a wide variety of approaches to Lee Friedlander's style-defining oeuvre.
