Nina Canell: Tectonic Tender

The Swedish sculptor Nina Canell is conceiving a site-specific installation for the Berlinische Galerie in 2022.

Berlin-based installation artist Nina Canell is interested in the processes that are often hidden or easily overlooked. Her artistic practice does not revolve around the finished artwork. It is the provisional, surprising and unpredictable processes of materials that characterise Canell's work.

Canell uses, from shoelaces to wavelengths, a whole spectrum of different materials to develop her own sculptural system. She also uses raw materials such as rubber, water or electricity as well as found objects such as can rings or cables. The combination creates a web of relationships that dissolves hierarchies and condenses our world through assemblage and entanglement.
