Run of Spirit

"Run of Spirit"

The Run of Spirit is a joint sports event for people with and without disabilities.

The Run of Spirit on the extensive grounds of the Johannesstift Berlin will take place for the 15th time in 2024. Start and finish is the collegiate church of the Johannesstift, located in Spandau Forest, where young and old people with and without disabilities live together as neighbors and across generations.

Inclusion and Participation

The aim of this special running event is to make the participation of people with disabilities possible. At the inclusive event, people with and without disabilities compete and run together in various distances from 550 meters to 10 kilometers. Family fun runs and team runs are offered as well.

Supporting Program

Athleses and visitors will enjoy the motivating backdrop at the edge of the course, guaranteeing good vibes even during running breaks. Children can look forward to a colorful supporting program and those who wish can take it easy on the lawn around the start and finish.

History of the Run of Spirit

Shaping and experiencing the future together is a matter close to the heart for the organizers of the Run of Spirit. At the first organized run in 2009, many people came together to carry the idea of inclusion forward. The fourth edition of the event was especially memorable. Athletes with four different forms of blindness from four nations and different religions were united on the course - a unique experience in the world of sports. The organizers are especially proud of the charity projects their event promotes. For example, Henry Wanyoike, a blind track and field athlete and multiple Paralympics participant, was supported in building an orphanage in Kenya, while another project encouraged people with multiple handicaps to learn how to ski.
