The movement "One Billion Rising" aims to bring women and men together in public places to dance against violence against women and for respect for all.

According to the initiators, one in three women on earth will be beaten or raped in the course of her life. That makes one billion women. New York artist and feminist Eve Ensler initiated the movement in September 2012. Since then, people in Berlin have been dancing in front of the Brandenburg Gate and Alexanderplatz, among other places, on February 14 to demand an end to violence against women as well as equality and equal rights. Every year on February 14, people in Berlin and around the world are called upon to stand up and dance to demand an end to this violence against women and girls.
