The movement "One Billion Rising" aims to bring women and men together in public places to dance against violence against women and for respect for all.

According to numbers provided by the movement's initiators, one in three women on earth will be beaten or raped in the course of their lives. This adds up to one billion women. The New York artist and feminist Eve Ensler had initiated the movement in September 2012. In 2013, people in Berlin danced in front of the Brandenburg Gate and Alexanderplatz, among other places, demanding an end to violence against women as well as equality and equal rights. Every year on February 14, people in Berlin and around the world are encouraged to stand up and dance to demand an end to this violence against women and girls.
