Six Day Berlin
23 - 28 January 2020
At the six day race in the Velodrom, professional and amateur racing cyclists compete with each other at breathtaking speed.
On six consecutive evenings several teams, each consisting of two racing cyclists, compete. There is a different race every night, with varying degrees of speed and stamina. The competitions include the traditional, international "pacemaker race", a derby and a sprint race. In all of these competitions, champions from all over the world compete against amateurs. In between the races, a DJ takes the stage as part of an entertainment programme.
History of the Berlin Six-Day Race
Starting in 1909, the Berlin Six Day Race is the oldest six-day race in the world. In its first year, 15 teams of two cyclists each competed in the exhibition hall at Berlin Zoo for glory and, not least, 5000 Goldmarks.
