Airport Berlin Brandenburg BER
Information about Berlin Brandenburg Airport BER, the new main airport for Berlin and the capital region.
Airport Berlin Brandenburg
In the near future, Berlin will be served by only one, major airport: Berlin Brandenburg Airport BER. The new airport is being constructed in close vicinity to Schönefeld Airport in the southeast of Berlin and just outside the city limits. On opening, the brand new airport will have a capacity of approximately 27 million passengers per year.
Airport BER: A City of its own
With over 20,000 employees, Berlin Brandenburg Airport will be a small city of its own. The terminal building will include a 9,000-square-foot marketplace and its very own train station. The new railway line connects the airport with the city centre, enabling visitors to get to the inner city district and back in a short time.
BER Airport Tours
Although the new airport is not in operation yet, some parts of it are open to visitors: There are guided tours by bus or bike which allow visitors to discover the new airport. The two-hour "BER Experience" tour gives an overview of the entire airport site and includes a visit to the check-in area as a highlight. The two-hour "BER on bike" tour offers participants impressions of the terminal, the departure gates, operational buildings, passenger bridges, and piers.
