Dirty Granny Tales return to ETB | IPAC with their latest production, The Philanthropist. Influenced by the decay of our modern era, the ensemble creates an ironic, circus of horror setting where haunting melodies meet visual storytelling. In an ideal society, a monster disrupts the harmony until the eponymous philanthropist appears as a savior. But is he truly a hero? Moving beyond their role as narrators, the musicians are now the lead characters, utilizing live looping techniques to transform into one-person orchestras.
This multi-sensory experience merges 2D animation projections, puppet theater and physical dance into a dark, gothic fable. It is a world born from a romantic yet decaying music box, where every note raises a question and every shadow hides a truth.

Dirty Granny Tales kehren mit ihrer neuesten Produktion ins English Theatre Berlin | International Performing Arts Center zurück: „The Philanthropist“ ist ein multisensorisches Erlebnis, das 2D-Animationsprojektionen, Puppentheater und Tanz zu einer dunklen, gotischen Fabel verschmilzt.
Unter dem Eindruck der Dekadenz unserer Zeit schafft das Ensemble eine ironische Horror-Zirkus-Atmosphäre, in der eindringliche Melodien auf visuelles Storytelling treffen: Ein Monster stört die Harmonie einer idealen Gesellschaft, bis der titelgebende Philanthrop als Retter auftritt. Aber ist er wirklich ein Held? Die Musiker*innen gehen über ihre Rolle als Erzähler*innen hinaus und werden nun zu Hauptfiguren, die sich mithilfe von Live-Looping-Techniken zu einem Ein-Mann-Orchester verwandeln.
Zu erleben ist eine Welt, die aus einer romantischen, doch zerfallenden Spieluhr entsteht, in der jede Note eine Frage aufwirft und jeder Schatten eine Wahrheit verbirgt.
