Flowers and ladies’ fashions under one roof
The pavilion, opened in 1964, housed not one but two shops: The shop windows facing onto Karl-Marx-Allee showcased the flowers and plants of the Interflor Florist. The shop windows facing onto Schillingstraße featured ladies’ fashions from Boutique Madeleine.
An entrance to the Schillingstraße underground station was cleverly inserted between the two shops, in the corner of the L-shaped pavilion building.
The pavilion demonstrates the excellent artistic design of the street-facing façades: The shop windows are framed with delicate, two-tone aluminium profiles. They surround ribbon-like wall surfaces that are faced with glass strips in turquoise, grey, blue and black.
