Glass pavilions für consumerism

Since 1964, five pavilions have formed a much-praised “festively cheerful architectural ensemble” with the high-rise blocks built behind it. The light-suffused cubes were designed as retail and exhibition halls, offering ladies’ fashions in Boutique Madeleine, flowers and plants in Interflor, arts and crafts in Art in the Home and footwear in the Centre Shoe Shop. Babette’s Beauty Salon sold skincare products, cosmetics and perfumes for modern women.
