Visiting other countries in the socialist brotherhood
Four of seven legendary HO national cuisine restaurants were located on Stalinallee, which would go on to become Karl-Marx-Allee. The fine-dining restaurants Warsaw, Budapest, Bucharest and Moscow served national food and drinks from other countries in the socialist brotherhood. They charged the highest price level – S – for dishes such as Hungarian pork fillet, which cost 8.20 marks.
The alternative was beer from Berlin, sausage or meatballs from one of the snack bars on the avenue. Price: 1.25 marks.
