The Museum Europäischer Kulturen invites you to its successful exhibition "ALL HANDS ON: Braiding" for the very last time. A varied programme of hands-on activities awaits visitors of all ages: try your hand at braiding and watch a master basket weaver at work, take a guided tour of the exhibition, bake braided bread and listen to fairy tales.

12:00 to 1:00 pmWoven Works | Guides tourBasketry is a craft practiced around the world – one that no machine has yet mastered. In the interactive exhibition, experiences, knowledge, innovation, and stories intertwine around the theme of braiding. Who practices basketry? With what? And why? The guided tour traces the development of a handicraft closely connected to issues such as economic growth, globalization, and social injustice. A special highlight is the walk-in artwork “The Braided Garden” by Olaf Holzapfel.
From 1:00 pmDemonstration of basket weaving with master basket maker Roland OppeltWatch the traditional master craftsman and innovative, creative designer of woven works at work.
1:30 to 4:30 pmOpen Workshop: WeavingFor weaving, you need patience above all else, as well as your hands. A wide variety of materials, tools and instructions are available in the workshop. Give it a go! You can join in at any time!
2:00 to 5:00 pmBaking braided bread: Not just an old hat!Anyone who drops by can plait a braid using three, four or even five strands, which will then be baked: young and old alike can bake fresh braids!
3:00 pmFairy-tale Patterns – familiar motifs in a new guiseFairy tales from around the world told by Sabine Kolbe. In cooperation with ErzählZeit for children aged 5 and over.
