In her works, Lina Lapelytė (born 1984 in Kaunas, Lithuania) combines music, performance and installation to create multi-layered productions that explore physicality, community and social role models. She often works with non-professional performers and develops poetic situations in which everyday gestures and voices merge into choreographed soundscapes.
She became internationally renowned with the opera performance Sun & Sea (Marina), which was awarded the Golden Lion at the Biennale di Venezia in 2019. Lapelytė's works move between concert, theater and visual art and have been presented at the Festival d'Automne/Bourse de Commerce (Paris), BAM (New York) and MOCA (Los Angeles), among others.
On May 1, 2026, Lapelytė will open her exhibition "CHANEL Commission: Lina Lapelytė. We Make Years Out of Hours", which was specially conceived for the museum's Historic Hall. The talk is part of the Hamburger Bahnhof's special program for Gallery Weekend Berlin.
