Around 305: Incidence in Berlin continues to decline

Corona-Test

The incidence of Coronavirus in Berlin fell slightly to just under 305 on Thursday (May 19, 2022).

This was announced by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). In recent days, the number of new registered infections within seven days per 100,000 people had been significantly higher. The nationwide incidence was at just under 383 on Thursday, according to RKI data.

Over one million infections since the start of the pandemic

1,977 new Coronavirus infections were recorded in Berlin within one day. This brought the total number registered since the start of the pandemic in spring 2020 to approximately 1,035,000. 12 new deaths were registered, bringing the total to 4574 deaths related to Covid-19 infections since the start of the pandemic.

Not all health offices provide daily reports

However, experts assume that many Coronavirus cases are not recorded because positive rapid tests are not always followed by a PCR test. Only these are counted in the statistics. In addition, not all health offices in Berlin report their data on a daily basis; especially on weekends and at the beginning of the week, there may be delays.
