Corona testing obligation at schools extended until Pentecost

Corona-Schnelltest in der Schule

The mandatory Corona test at Berlin schools will be extended until Pentecost. However, starting next Monday, students and teachers will only have to test themselves twice a week instead of three times.

The decision was announced by Berlin's Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) at the Senate meeting on Tuesday (May 03, 2022). According to Giffey, in the nearly two million Covid tests handed out to Berlin students and teachers last week, the number of positive results was well below one percent.

Two tests per week from May 09

In consultation with the hygiene advisory board and the state parents' committee, it had become clear that parents wanted Corona tests to continue at the schools. Therefore, it was agreed that two tests per week would be conducted starting next Monday (May 09, 2022).
