End of contact restrictions for private meetings decided

Coronavirus - Berlin

Starting Friday (March 04, 2022), private meetings with an unlimited amount of people will once again be possible in Berlin - as long as only vaccinated and recovered individuals attend.

The decision was announced by Berlin's Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey after the Senate meeting on Tuesday (March 01, 2022). The current contact restrictions will thus be dropped for private meetings with vaccinated and recovered attendees. Children under 14 may also attend regardless of their vaccination or recovery status.

Further easing of restrictions planned

For private meetings with persons who are not or are recovering, contact restrictions still apply: in this case, one household may meet with a maximum of two persons from another household. The removal of contact restrictions is part of a broader easing of Coronavirus-related restrictions. In many areas, for example, the 2G regulation currently in force will be replaced by 3G. This applies, for example, in the restaurant industry, at events, for services close to the body, and for sports.
