According to official figures, about one in five Berliners has contracted the Coronavirus over the two years of the pandemic. The Robert Koch Institute reported 6390 new infections within one day on Tuesday.
That brought the total number of Coronavirus infections in Berlin to 741,869. Since 2020, 4245 people have died in connection with Covid 19 disease in the German capital. The current fifth Coronavirus wave is gradually losing pace. Within the past seven days, 1043 people became infected per 100,000 residents. On Tuesday of last week, the same figure hat been at 1079, a week earlier at 1135. The overall incidence in Berlin is well below the national average of 1213. The incidence values are highest in the eastern suburban districts of the city.
