More Covid patients in hospitals, incidence remains high

As infection rates grow, the number of Covid-19 patients in Berlin hospitals increases.

Hospitalization rate at 16,3

In the past seven days, 16.3 of every 100,000 residents received inpatient treatment for a Coronnavirus infection, the Berlin Health Administration announced on Monday (Jan. 24, 2022). A week ago, the rate had been at 13.1, two weeks ago at 4.0. The corresponding traffic light in the Senate's warning system is now set to red. However, it still shows a yellow signal for the occupancy of intensive care beds. The occupancy of ICUs with Corona patients has been relatively constant for weeks.

Incidence remains above 1400

The number of infections in the Germany capital continues to rise. In the past seven days, 1464.5 out of 100,000 people were infected with Coronavirus. This is slightly less than over the weekend, but significantly more than on Monday last week, when the so-called seven-day incidence was at 947.7. Not all district have provided numbers for Monday's statistics.

Berlin incidence significantly above national average

Among the German fedeal states, only Hamburg has a higher incidence than Berlin. This is according to data from the Robert Koch Institute. In a nationwide comparison of districts, the Berlin districts of Mitte, Spandau, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Neukölln and Pankow occupy the top five spots. The city of Hamburg is not subdivided into its districts in the statistics.
