Seven-day incidence rose sharply in the past week

The seven-day incidence, which indicates how many new Coronavirzs infections per 100,000 inhabitants were registered in the past seven days, is up from a value of 685.7 the day before. Shortly after the Christmas holidays, values were still below 300.

Data complete again after public holidays

After incomplete data over the holidays, the current figures now once again closely reflect the actual incidence of infection. Both the Berlin Senate and the RKI removed their notes this weekend, according to which a lower testing and reporting activity is to be assumed over the Christmas days and the turn of the year and therefore only an "incomplete picture of the epidemiological situation" would result from the data.

No further deaths reported

According to the RKI, 1097 new Coronavirus infections were registered in Berlin between Saturday and Sunday, bringing the total number of proven infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 359,419. No other deaths related to Covid-19 were recorded. Since the start of the pandemic in Berlin, 4038 people have been confirmed to have died from or with the virus.
