Berlin funds cinemas with six million euros

Berlin wants to support the almost 100 cinemas in the capital with six million euros over the next two years.

According to Florian Graf, Head of the Senate Chancellery, an initial one million euros has been set aside in the budget for the current year to maintain the cinema landscape. Five million euros in funding is then planned for 2025. Berlin's cinema scene with over 250 screens is considered unique in Germany. The funds are intended to promote investment in the maintenance and refurbishment of cinemas. According to Graf, the use of the funding will now be discussed with the cinema associations, among others.
