According to Senator for Education Astrid-Sabine Busse, the Berlin School Portal has developed well since it went live in May 2021.

"We are on the right track," said the SPD politician on Thursday (June 30, 2022) during a visit to a school. The portal is to be a central building block for the digitization of Berlin's schools. After a one-time registration, schools will have access to learning platforms, educational media and service offerings, for example. Teachers, students and educational staff can all use the portal.

Offer already widely used by Berlin schools

"In its first development stage, the School Portal offers Berlin's public schools free access to the two learning platforms we recommend," Busse said. More than 500 of around 700 public schools currently make use of the offerings provided, such as teaching materials or the apps of the digital learning spaces.

Further expansion of the School Portal planned

According to the information, the portal registers around 12,000 registrations per day. A math learning tool as well as a conference tool and a parent portal are also integrated. According to the Senate Department for Education, there are plans to expand the portal further.
