Görlitzer Park will remain open at night on May 1. Visitors may enter the park at any time between 10 p.m. on April 30 and 6 a.m. on May 2, according to a general ruling issued by the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection, and the Environment.
As a result, for once, the park will not be closed at night, a measure that was introduced on March 1. The administration justifies its decision with the parties and demonstrations taking place around May 1, which attract thousands of people every year in and around the Görlitzer Park every year. Experience has shown that these events often last well into the night.
Unlike in Görlitzer Park, raves are not permitted in Treptower Park around May 1. According to a general order issued by the police, the ban is in effect from 6 a.m. on May 1 through 6 a.m. on May 2 and covers the area between the Spree River—including the Insel der Jugend—and Bulgarische Straße, Am Treptower Park, and along the S-Bahn line. Puschkinallee is exempt from the ban. The police justify their decision on the grounds of protecting green spaces, recreational areas, and the historic garden.
