Berlin as an international meeting place for cultures - this is the basic idea behind the international dance festival Tanzolymp.
Tanzolymp is a competition for young dancers aged 10 to 21 and takes place annually in Berlin under the motto "Dance as a world language". The international youth dance festival will take place for the 23rd time in 2026.
The prizes at the international children's dance festival include scholarships, including for the Munich Ballet Academy, as well as contracts, cash prizes and press awards. The festival is now regarded internationally by artists and experts as a "stock exchange" for young talent. This is where artistic directors meet dancers, dancers meet sponsors, training scholarships are awarded, contacts are forged and future careers are created. There are six different dance categories: Classical dance/neoclassical dance, modern dance/contemporary dance, character dance/folklore, jazz, pop and tap dance.
The highlight of the festival is the gala evening on February 16, where the best soloists, duets and groups from the competition will present their skills to the public. This year's gala will once again take place in the Fontane Haus.
