Few areas of Berlin have changed as dramatically as Mitte. Driven by art, culture and later gentrification, the district became a testing ground for new architecture after reunification. This tour explores how galleries, publishing spaces and innovative building conversions interact with the existing urban fabric, while also highlighting contrasts between GDR-era architecture and contemporary projects such as David Chipperfield’s campus. The tour concludes at the redeveloped Tacheles site, where questions of culture, commerce and housing continue to shape the city.
