Himmelbeet community garden

View of the Himmelbeet community garden in Wedding.

The intercultural community garden in Berlin-Wedding invites you to garden and harvest your own produce.

Originally, the initiators wanted to set up the Himmelbeet community garden high up on the parking deck of a shopping center in Berlin-Wedding nearby. Unfortunately, static concerns spoke against it. Yet, the original name has remained.

Himmelbeet: It's not just about gardening

At its core, the organization behind the garden is about "the good life for all". It is about gardening and harvesting together, fair prices, a good life for plants and animals, diversity and ecological wealth and much more. Himmelbeet sees itself as a platform in the neighborhood, but also works intensively on the topics of social transformation and the future of the city.

Communally cultivated und individually rented beds

The Himmelbeet community garden consists of a communally cultivated section and individually rented vegetable beds where regional and old cultivated varieties are grown. People of all ages come together in the garden: while gardening, upcycling, cooking together, in workshops on topics such as environmental education and nutrition, in the garden café and at cultural events.
