In Berlin's southeast, the Zeuthener See forms part of the border between Berlin and Brandenburg and is a bathing-friendly spread of the Dahme River.

Thanks to its with good water quality, the Zeuthener See is a very popular and idyllic swimming destination of Berlin. Although it is not a lake in the classical sense and is also used for seafaring, the water is nevertheless very calm. The Zeuthener See borders the districts of Zeuthen, Eichwalde and Schmöckwitz. While the western shore is very populated with swimmers and sunbathers, a forest directly adjoins in the east.

Swimming in the Zeuthener See

The Zeuthener See offers a few swimming spots. In the northern area of Schmöckwitz there are sandy beaches, adventure playground, hiking trails and a beer garden. Those looking for some peace and quiet will find happiness further south in the area of Eichwalde, with two bathing spots on Lindenstraße and Friedenstraße.

Facts about the Zeuthener See

The Zeuthener See is one of several lake-like widenings of the Dahme. With a length of almost four kilometers, it is one of the larger ones in this category and is used in different ways, for example for water sports, tourism and fishing. Theodor Fontane already explored the natural features of Lake Zeuthen on one of his expeditions in 1874.
