Haevn | Classic Open Air Berlin

On July 13, the Dutch band Haevn will perform live for the first time on a German open-air stage at the Classic Open Air, accompanied by a 12-piece string ensemble.

With their distinctive sound—a blend of atmospheric pop, cinematic expansiveness, and emotional depth—Haevn has built a global fan base. Founded by singer Marijn van der Meer and film composer Jorrit Kleijnen, the band combines fragile, haunting vocals with epic soundscapes reminiscent of grand film scores. This unique blend gives their songs a timeless quality, carried by delicate melodies, soaring synth pads, and subtle dynamics.

The band gained international recognition in part through their debut single “Where the Heart Is,” which was originally written for a commercial and quickly became a viral hit. Since then, their songs have been streamed millions of times and have touched audiences around the globe. Despite this impressive reach, Haevn are considered perhaps the best-kept secret of the European music scene and a band that forges its own path far removed from fleeting trends.

The interplay with a 12-piece string ensemble lends the multi-layered compositions additional expressiveness. Delicate piano passages grow into orchestral climaxes, soft tones unfold into powerful waves of sound. The result is an intense and moving concert experience full of magical moments.
