Founded more than 20 years ago at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, the Morgenstern Trio has long been part of the select group of internationally renowned piano trios. For its Pierre Boulez Saal debut, the ensemble presents a program of well-known and rarely heard works from the 18th to the 20th centuries, as well as a new piece by Márton Illés. The Hungarian composer, a student of the late Wolfgang Rihm, recently won acclaim with world premieres at the Berliner Philharmoniker and Musikfest Berlin.
