The documentary *Das Ungesagte* (2025) brings together interviews with eleven people born between 1920 and 1936. Some of them have never spoken about their experiences during the Nazi era, or have not done so in a very long time. Patricia Hector and Lothar Herzog seek to explore exactly what the interviewees thought and felt at the time and how they assess their participation in or involvement with the Nazi regime today. The statements of the eight men and three women are at times painfully honest, at times disturbing, but also moving, and are equally marked by moral conflict, repressed feelings of guilt, trauma, and grief. Almost all of the interviewees had a positive attitude toward Nazism as teenagers—in contrast, the accounts of the two Jewish survivors bear witness to the hostility and persecution they endured. The film, which runs just under two and a half hours in its theatrical version, is available in a shortened version for school workshops.Translated with DeepL
