The museum garden becomes a cinema: together with the Austrian Cultural Forum Berlin, the MEK presents an open-air film series exploring the people, landscapes and ways of life in and around the Tyrolean mountains.
To close the film series, we turn to one of Tyrol's most singular artists. The documentary "Der Untergang des Alpenlandes – D.U.D.A! Werner Pirchner" is an approach to composer, musician and independent thinker Werner Pirchner (1940–2001) that is as humorous as it is multi-layered.
Taking Pirchner's work as its starting point, director Malte Ludin embarks on a journey of discovery through Tyrol. The result is not a conventional artist's portrait but a cinematic journey between tradition and modernity, natural beauty and social change. Companions and admirers including André Heller, Josef Hader and Felix Mitterer recall an artist whose influence extended far beyond Tyrol, yet who remained deeply connected to his homeland.
Before the screening, the special exhibition "The Mountains of Tyrol" will be open to visit until the film begins.
Drinks and snacks are available from the KAFFEE on site. BlümchenKAFFEE also offers picnic baskets filled with Tyrolean specialities. Pre-order the "Tyrolean Family Basket" for 20 euros per person or the "Bretteljause deluxe" for 35 euros per person by emailing info[at]esskultur-berlin.de.
