The museum garden becomes a cinema: together with the Austrian Cultural Forum Berlin, the MEK presents an open-air film series exploring the people, landscapes and ways of life in and around the Tyrolean mountains.
High up in the Tyrolean Alps lies the Bürglkopf return centre. Remote from any larger settlement, the facility is designed to encourage people in the asylum process to leave the country – through return counselling, but above all through the isolation of the location.
In her documentary "Bürglkopf", director Lisa Polster turns her camera on the people who find themselves in this unusual place: refugees, local villagers and tourists. Against the backdrop of a spectacular Alpine landscape, the film becomes a meditation on borders, belonging and social contradiction.
After the screening, director Lisa Polster will speak about the making of the film and her research on location. The discussion will provide an opportunity for questions and shared reflection.
Before the screening, the special exhibition "The Mountains of Tyrol" will be open to visit until the film begins.
Drinks and snacks are available from the KAFFEE on site. BlümchenKAFFEE also offers picnic baskets filled with Tyrolean specialities. Pre-order the "Tyrolean Family Basket" for 20 euros per person or the "Bretteljause deluxe" for 35 euros per person by emailing info[at]esskultur-berlin.de.
