The Lure of the Image

How images on the web entice

How do images bait or beguile us as they circulate online? How do they compel, capture or control us? The exhibition brings together fourteen artistic positions that explore contemporary digital image cultures and their seductive powers. At its core are visual phenomena that function as vehicles for communication, critique, and humor—and that play a crucial role in shaping our social, cultural, and political landscapes. Between social media feeds, dating app profiles, memes, emojis, and computer-generated imagery, the exhibition unfolds a multifaceted panorama of contemporary visual practices. The artworks track the complex mechanisms of the lure in digital space, showing how attention is directed, emotions are provoked, and opinions are influenced. By juxtaposing various media strategies and spatial staging that oscillates between overwhelm and reflection, the exhibition makes tangible how images shape perception while opening up spaces for criticism and counterimages.
