Experience the original sculptures of the historic palace façade up close

The Sculpture Hall, a spatial design by the Italian architect Franco Stella, corresponds in its dimensions to the Baroque Grand Staircase of the Berlin Palace, which was once located on this site. On display here are fragments of the palace from several centuries. Many of them were parts of the Baroque façade decoration designed by the palace architect Andreas Schlüter (1634-1714), who came from Gdansk (now Gdańsk in Poland).

Among the objects on display were six colossal figures that once crowned the main portal of the inner courtyard. In their splendour and symbolism, the baroque colossal sculptures illustrate the Hohenzollerns' growing claim to power within Europe around 1700. The exhibition offers insights into the fascinating history of the creation of the historical sculptures as well as the newly created copies.
