How did Karl Marx end up on a Neukölln street sign—twice? Why is Germany’s first “women’s district” located in Neukölln, of all places? And who exactly are Mining and Lining?
Our new exhibition explores the streets of Neukölln. We provide insight into the sociopolitical and historical contexts that led to the naming or renaming of streets in Neukölln. In addition to historical chapters, we also address current issues surrounding the names of streets and squares, as well as calls from civil society for street renaming.
