Seit dem griechischen Philosophen Plato gibt es ein enges Verhältnis zwischen Musik und Mathematik und der Frage nach wahrer Schönheit. In der Kultur der italienischen Renaissance verdichten sich die Überlegungen zur Vision der perfekten Stadt. Die Musikerin Gaby Bultmann und der Kunsthistoriker Lutz Stöppler gehen dem Verhältnis von Mathematik, Musik und Schönheit auch im Bildungskanon der Frühen Neuzeit nach.
