Not just built on sand. History(ies) of church and city

Basic exhibition

Museum Spandovia Sacra, Aquarell.

Museum Spandovia Sacra, Aquarell.

The larger exhibition room on the left (seen from the entrance) demonstrates how closely the history of Spandau is linked to the St. Nikolai parish. St. Nikolai is not just an almost 800-year-old building on a sandy island at the confluence of the Spree and Havel rivers. People from the parish help shape life in the city. We know their stories from the church records and other documents in the Nikolai archive. The journey through the centuries stretches from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Before or after visiting the exhibition, the adjoining cozy café invites you to linger: under secluded old trees on Reformation Square, in the bright winter garden or in the half-timbered parlor with fireplace.
