The setting: Early evening, with the sun bathing everything in a warm, orange glow. On the table are flowers, fruit, and wine—or perhaps a cup of tea. It is a space brimming with sensual possibilities, one that feels both aloof and aesthetically pleasing—almost too perfect, as something darker seems to lie dormant beneath the surface. “Mood Lighting,” an exhibition featuring works by Adrian Kay Wong, Juan de la Rica, and Nicholas Bono Kennedy, explores the exhaustion caused by social performance, in which seemingly idyllic compositions give way to a sense of longing and otherness.

Throughout the exhibition, we are captivated by the sensuality of the pictorial surface - vibrant colors,ripe fruit, radiant light—which draws us into scenes that seem both familiar and otherworldly.These paintings possess a special allure: they invite our gazewithout fully revealing themselves to it.
