The group exhibition by "Materialistin" brings together the eight Leipzig-based sculptors Laura Eckert, Enne Haehnle, Elisabeth Howey, Lucy König, Agnes Lammert, Wibke Rahn, Theresa Rothe, and Sophie Uchman, highlighting new forms of collective practice and solidarity. This sends a signal far beyond Hamburger Bahnhof during the anniversary year.

“Materialistin” is a group of female artists based in Leipzig whose work and activities focus on the expanded field of sculpture. The artists work with steel, stone, plaster, and concrete, as well as plant fibers, renewable raw materials, wax, and clay. They create sculptural objects and site-specific installations. The group takes a stance on feminist as well as socio-political and cultural-political issues: it acts in solidarity and is not organized hierarchically. The members counter the physical, economic, and logistical challenges in the field of sculpture by sharing experiential knowledge, tools, contacts, and networks. The intergenerational structure represents a unique feature within the art world.
