Kerim Seiler: Der Titel kommt zuletzt

The exhibition "Der Titel kommt zuletzt" (“The Title Comes Last”) brings together three monumental works: On the hall floor is the room-filling installation Tschutschu, reminiscent of the circular track layout of a model train set, composed of red-painted wooden benches and tables that can be used as seating. The installation offers seating for over a hundred visitors. At its circular center, the hall floor takes on a stage-like character.  

Hanging on the main wall of the exhibition hall is Holotypes—nearly a hundred framed ink works, arranged in a strict grid. The sheets are reminiscent of inkblot images from Rorschach tests or of butterflies. Finally, hovering above *Tschutschu* is *Spaceknot*, a bright pink neon work—like an intricate three-dimensional drawing in space.  

All three works share a playful character. Tschutschu and Spaceknot appear as simple drawings that have been transposed into space: a circle and a knot. Depending on where you move within the space or which bench you sit on, the appearance of the floating knot changes. The austere grid of the ink works serves as a counterpoint to this. Instinctively, however, you begin to interpret the ink images as you would in a Rorschach test and search for meanings, even though the exhibition ultimately revolves around simple forms: circle, knot, and grid. And, of course, colors: red and pink in the room, multicolored on the wall. Everything is so beautifully colorful! You want to move around, look, and discover. Just like a child. And you want to name the Holotypes - but “The title comes last.”
