– Curved Elliptical Glass aus dem Jahr 2018 von dem US-amerikanischen Künstler James Turrell (Archiv)
In the fall of 2027, the Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart will present the first comprehensive retrospective of James Turrell’s work in Berlin.
james Turrell is regarded as a pioneer of light art and fundamentally revolutionized our understanding of sculpture and perception. Following the exhibitions on Fred Sandback (2023) and Lee Ufan (2023–24), this presentation in the spacious Rieckhallen continues the museum’s exploration of Minimal Art and site-specific art. It ties in with the Hamburger Bahnhof’s collection, which also includes works by Dan Flavin as well as his iconic light installation on the museum’s facade.
James Turrell (born 1943 in Los Angeles) lives and works in Flagstaff, Arizona.
