This lecture series sheds light on Brancusi's (1876–1957) formal language and artistic development. It shows how his sculptures set new standards for modernism through their reduced lines, precisely balanced spatial dimensions, proportions, and conscious use of space, material, and perception. At the same time, his works are juxtaposed with those of other artists of his time.
