Das Gemälde „Maria das Kind verehrend – Die Anbetung im Walde“ von Fra Filippo Lippi ist eines der herausragenden Meisterwerke der Gemäldegalerie. Das Bild entstand um 1459 im Auftrag der Medici in Florenz. Es gelangte über die Sammlung Solly nach Berlin und ist seit der Museumsgründung 1830 Bestandteil der Dauerausstellung.
Seit April wird das bedeutende Holztafelgemälde in einem auf zwei Jahre angelegten Forschungsprojekt kunsttechnologisch untersucht und restauriert. Die Führung ermöglicht einen exklusiven Einblick in die laufenden Arbeiten und bietet die Möglichkeit, ganz nah am Objekt, mit der ausführenden Restauratorin Anja Wolf ins Gespräch zu kommen.
