Konstantin Krimmel loves song, has Romanian roots, and grew up speaking two languages—traits he shares with Eusebius Mandyczewski, best remembered in music history as the editor of the works of Schubert and of his friend Johannes Brahms. Krimmel is joined by his piano partner Ammiel Bushakevitz to perform a selection of Mandyczewski’s Romanian Songs, which are barely remembered today. The duo’s program also includes works by Brahms and Schumann, as well as Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Songs of Travel, a cycle sometimes called the “English Winterreise.
