Masks mandate on public transport ends in February

S-Bahn Berlin

In Berlin, the obligation to wear masks on buses and trains ends on February 2.

The Senate passed a resolution to this effect at its first meeting of the new year on Tuesday. This was subsequently announced by the Senate Chancellery. The Senate continues to recommend wearing a mask in publicly accessible indoor areas and on public transport. Initially, the mask mandate was supposed to stay effective until at least mid-February. However, in consultation with the state of Brandenburg, the Senate has now decided on the earlier date.

Adaptation of the quarantine regulations

Furthermore, the quarantine regulations for people infected with Covid-19 have been adjusted. From January 16, anyone who has tested positive for the Coronavirus can leave mandatory isolation after five days - even if they have not tested negative. However, as a prerequisite for this, the person has to be symptom-free for at least 48 hours.
