Starting Tuesday, Berlin citizens can get their next booster vaccination against Covid-19 with the newest vaccine adapted to the Omicron variant BA.4/BA.5.
The vaccine will be available for people aged 12 and older at the Ring-Center vaccination center on Frankfurter Allee, several Berlin-based aid organizations informed. "The new Biontech/Pfizer vaccine Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA.4/5 replaces the Biontech/Pfizer vaccine adapted to the BA.1 variant," they added.
All previous vaccines will also continue to be offered. The Standing Commission on Vaccination (Stiko) had recently advocated the preferred use of vaccines adapted to the omicron variant for booster vaccinations, but referred to both BA.1 and BA.4/5 vaccines. Since BA.1 and BA.4/BA.5 are comparatively closely related, there are only minor differences between these two vaccine preparations.
