Corona incidence increased further to 434.6

Corona-Test

The corona incidence in Berlin has recently risen further. On Friday, it was 434.6, according to the Robert Koch Institute's (RKI) dashboard from early this morning.

The previous day, the figure had been around 403, and the previous week it had been well below that. For Germany as a whole, the number of registered new infections per 100,000 people in seven days was given as 618.2 on Friday.

Incidence based on positive PCR tests only

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there is a high number of cases not recorded by the RKI - especially because not all infected persons have a PCR test. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, subsequent reports or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of daily values.

More than 1,089,000 cases since the start of the pandemic

According to the RKI, more than 2880 new infections were reported for Berlin within one day on Friday. The total number of registered cases has risen to more than 1,089,000 since the start of the pandemic in spring 2020. One further death was reported. According to the official figures, there have thus been 4639 deaths related to Corona infections in Berlin since the start of the pandemic.
