The seven-day incidence for monitoring the Corona pandemic was given by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Thursday as 251.8 for Berlin.

The previous day, the figure for new Corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days had been 250.8. Nationwide, the value was given as 262.6. Experts have been assuming for some time that there is a high number of cases not recorded by the RKI - due to overburdened health offices and because not all infected persons have a PCR test done. Only these count in the statistics. Subsequent reports or transmission problems can also lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

According to the RKI, 1812 new infections were reported for Berlin within one day. The total number of registered cases thus rose to 1,045,172 since the beginning of the pandemic in spring 2020. Two further deaths were reported. According to the official figures, there have thus been 4608 deaths related to Corona infections in Berlin since the start of the pandemic.
