Corona-Tests

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported the seven-day incidence for Berlin as 250.2 on Tuesday morning (May 24, 2022).

The previous day, the incidence of new Coronavirus infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days was at 261.4 (previous week: 347.0, previous month according to the Senate situation report: 403.9). Nationwide, the incidence was at 307.2.

26 deaths reported

According to the RKI, 2183 new infections were reported. The total number of registered Coronavirus cases thus rose to 1,041,177 since the start of the pandemic in spring 2020. In addition, a further 26 deaths related to Covid-19 were reported. According to the official figures, there have thus been 4604 deaths related to Coronavirus infections in Berlin since the start of the pandemic.

Experts assume higher case numbers

However, experts assume that many Coronavirus cases are not recorded because positive rapid tests are not always followed by a PCR test. Only these are counted in the statistics. In addition, not all health offices report their data on a daily basis; especially on weekends and at the beginning of the week, there may be a delay.
