With the end of the summer holidays in Berlin, the capital's outdoor pools are gradually closing.
Five summer pools were already open for the last time this year on Sunday, according to Berliner Bäder-Betriebe. These include the Wilmersdorf, Am Insulaner and Neukölln summer pools, the summer pool at the Kombibad Seestraße and the Monbijou children's summer pool.
Some pools have extended their summer season by a few days: the pool at the Olympiastadion and the Wannsee lido are aiming to end their season on 21 September. The Kreuzberg and Gropiusstadt combined pools are scheduled to close even later - at the end of September. "Short-term changes are still possible, however, depending on the weather," said the pool operators.
With the end of the summer season, the staff of the Berliner Bäder-Betriebe are returning to the indoor pools. "Thirteen indoor pools will reopen after the summer break in the very first week after the start of school," said a spokeswoman for Bäder-Betriebe. These include the Stadtbäder Mitte and Lankwitz pools as well as the Stadtbad Neukölln. Most of the indoor pools will start the indoor season on 15 September.
