"Kai Wegner vor Ort" dialogue series to continue

Kai Wegner

Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) wants to continue his visits to all Berlin districts.

Berlin's governing mayor wants to continue touring the districts. His "Kai Wegner vor Ort" (Kai Wegner on Site) series of talks will continue due to the high level of interest, as Senate spokesperson Christine Richter announced in response to a dpa enquiry.

The format has proved its worth, also because it offers a low-threshold opportunity to talk to him personally and ask him questions. This dialogue is important to Wegner in order to find out what issues Berliners are concerned about and to explain the policies of the Berlin Senate.

Around 100 to 120 people sign up

The last appointment of the first round through all twelve districts is scheduled for 22 September. The CDU politician will then be a guest at the Freizeitforum Marzahn in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district from 6 to 7.30 pm. Topics will include education, mobility and urban development policy. Senate spokesperson Richter will moderate the discussion. Between 100 and 120 Berliners usually register for the events in the series. According to the information provided, the actual number of participants is typically somewhat lower. According to the Senate spokeswoman, the greatest interest is shown in transport, housing, and education policy.

Criticism and complaints are regularly voiced

Wegner is not always only welcomed by fans of the black-red Senate. Demonstrations at the start are standard. Not only trade unions and various political groups like to use the opportunity to express their opinions to the head of government - both in front of the event building and during the discussion. Wegner also regularly has to listen to criticism and complaints. Nevertheless, the series of dialogues will continue. In which districts first and in what order is currently being planned, according to the Senate spokesperson. The dialogue series kicked off in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in February 2024. At that time, Wegner was a guest in Charlottenburg. Next time, it will be Wilmersdorf's turn - and the intention is to follow the same pattern in other districts.
